Bhubaneswar, 25 July (H.S.): In a significant breakthrough in anti-Maoist operations, security forces have recovered a large cache of explosives and logistical supplies from a concealed Maoist dump in the dense forests of Odisha’s Malkangiri district.
The operation was jointly conducted by the Border Security Force (BSF) and the District Voluntary Force (DVF) on July 24, following specific intelligence inputs. Personnel from the COB Ghanabeda unit of the 177 Battalion BSF, along with DVF members, carried out an intensive search in the rugged terrain between Arapadar and Ghusumpadar villages, located about 5.7 km southwest of COB Ghanabeda under the Jodambo Police Station limits.
During the operation, security forces recovered three Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), gelatin sticks, 11 detonators, around 500 grams of gunpowder, three metres of cordex wire, and approximately 25 metres of electric wire. Other seized items included a small solar panel, a Phillips radio set, two torches, two 12-volt batteries, around 150 grams of iron nails, and a jet spray pipe.
Security officials stated that the timely recovery of these materials has averted potential threats and significantly enhanced the safety of both security personnel and civilians in the Odisha–Chhattisgarh border region.
