Agartala, 24 July (HS): With elections to the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) Village Committees and urban local bodies drawing near, Tripura BJP president Abhishek Debroy has appealed to party leaders and workers to put aside internal differences and work together to strengthen the organisation.

Speaking at a party programme held at Bishalgarh Town Hall in Sepahijala district, Debroy said factionalism could weaken the BJP and stressed that organisational unity should take precedence over personal rivalries.

Referring to the recent organisational reshuffle, in which MLA Sushanta Deb was replaced by Arindam Deb as the state president of the BJP Yuva Morcha, Debroy rejected claims that the change amounted to sidelining leaders. He cited his own experience, saying that although he was once removed as Gomati district president, the decision eventually paved the way for him to become the state BJP chief.

He said the BJP provides opportunities through different organisational responsibilities and that leadership changes should be viewed as part of the party's growth rather than as setbacks.

Debroy also warned against the formation of factions within the party, asserting that he would not support any particular camp during his three-year tenure as state president. While acknowledging that differences exist in every political organisation, he urged leaders and workers to minimise conflicts for the party's larger interest.

Highlighting instances of rivalry between incumbent and former mandal presidents in some areas, Debroy said such disputes adversely affect organisational functioning and should be avoided as the BJP gears up for the upcoming civic and TTAADC Village Committee elections.-----------
