Imphal, 24 July (HS): Manipur Police, in a series of coordinated operations conducted across the state on July 23, arrested three alleged militant cadres belonging to different banned insurgent groups along with a suspected drug trafficker. Arms, ammunition and suspected heroin were also recovered during the raids.

One of the arrested persons, identified as Mayanglambam Tomba Singh alias Lakpa (39), an alleged active cadre of the KYKL outfit, was apprehended at the Tera Urak checkpoint under Bishnupur police station. A resident of Churachandpur Bijang Khunou and presently staying at the Phubala Relief Camp, he is accused of extortion and was allegedly involved in a petrol pump explosion at Moirang. Police recovered a 9 mm pistol, a magazine and 11 live rounds of ammunition of different calibres from his possession.

In another operation, security personnel arrested S Palal Kuki alias Lalboi Singson, an active member of the UKNA, from Molnom. According to police, he functioned as the outfit's finance head and was allegedly linked to several incidents of extortion and firing.

A separate raid led to the arrest of Gurumayum Khugamani Sharma alias Nanao alias Bamon (37), an alleged KCP cadre, from Wangkhei Ayangpali Road under Porompat police station in Imphal East district. Police said he was also involved in extortion-related activities.

In an anti-drug operation, police apprehended Mrs Leila (30) of Lilong Bazar under Lilong police station in Thoubal district. During the search, officers seized 10 soap cases containing 389 grams of suspected heroin, and further investigation is underway.-----------
