New Delhi, 24 July (H.S.): Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday welcomed social activist Sonam Wangchuk’s decision to end his hunger strike, saying that Wangchuk’s life and health are extremely important for the country.

In a post on social media platform X, Kejriwal said he welcomed Wangchuk’s decision to withdraw his fast and emphasised that his well-being was of great significance to the nation.

Kejriwal also appealed to people to participate in the nationwide protest called by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) on Friday.

Sonam Wangchuk had been on an indefinite hunger strike for 26 days before ending it. His protest was held in support of a broader student movement demanding accountability in the examination paper leak controversy, justice for affected students and protection of peaceful protesters from any action.

Wangchuk ended his fast after discussions and assurances regarding the concerns raised by protesters. The move came amid growing demands for accountability over alleged irregularities in the examination system and concerns related to student rights.
