Guwahati, 23 July (HS): Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday reviewed the flood situation in Assam with Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma as the state continues to grapple with a severe flood crisis. The death toll has climbed to 44, while more than 80 people remain missing, raising fears that the number of fatalities could increase.

During the discussion, Amit Shah took stock of the flood situation and assured all possible support from the Central Government. A central team is expected to arrive in Assam today or tomorrow to assess the damage and monitor ongoing relief and rehabilitation efforts.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma continued his visit to flood-affected areas for the second consecutive day. He inspected the flood situation in Golaghat district and visited relief camps at Numaligarh and Bhaskar Senior Basic School in Komarbandha, where he interacted with displaced families and reviewed relief arrangements.----------
