New Delhi, 22 July (H.S.): Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has expressed concern over the ongoing protests in Delhi. He said it is extremely unfortunate that some people are attempting to use the country’s students and youth as tools to serve their own political interests. He added that seeking solutions on the streets during a parliamentary session is inappropriate.

Speaking to reporters here, Rajnath Singh said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the government is fully committed to fulfilling the aspirations of students and youth and to their welfare. He said it is the government’s responsibility to listen to every concern of students and find solutions. He asserted that India’s alert and discerning youth will understand such misleading attempts and will choose the path of progress, development and nation-building.

He said the “manufactured sense of anger” created by some opposition leaders is only a failed attempt to confuse the public, especially children and young people. He stressed that the government is fully sensitive to the feelings and concerns of the youth. With the parliamentary session underway, he said the government has reiterated its willingness to hold meaningful debates on every issue, but the Opposition is making an inappropriate attempt to seek solutions on the streets.

The Defence Minister said that in a democracy, the appropriate place to discuss issues is Parliament, where the Opposition is free to voice its views. He appealed to the Opposition that if it is serious, it should not disrupt parliamentary proceedings and should draw the nation’s attention to all issues within Parliament itself.
