New Delhi, 21 July (H.S.):

Members of Parliament from the Nationalist Citizens Party of India (NCPI) on Tuesday urged the Centre to take students’ future and concerns seriously, stating that students represent the future of the country and their voices must be heard.

The MPs’ reaction came after Prime Minister Narendra Modi assured that strict action would be taken against those involved in irregularities related to the NEET examination.

Speaking to reporters on the Parliament premises, MP Yusuf Pathan said that students are the future of the nation and their concerns should be addressed. “We must listen to them,” he said.

Meanwhile, MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar said that the Prime Minister had made an important point, as students work hard for their education, parents invest their hopes and resources in their children’s future, and every student expects to progress in life after clearing such examinations.

She emphasised that the future and aspirations of students should be given the highest priority.

It may be noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) Parliamentary Party’s ‘Mangal Milan’ meeting held at the Parliament House complex on the second day of the Monsoon Session, said that strict action would be taken against those involved in irregularities in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET).

The Prime Minister said that the government acted immediately after the paper leak surfaced, with 13 people arrested and sent to jail. He added that to ensure students’ futures were not affected, the examination was conducted again and the results were declared without any delay.
