New Delhi, 21 July (H.S.): The Central Government has renamed the zones of the Delhi Municipal Corporation (MCD) in accordance with the names of Delhi’s newly created revenue districts. For this purpose, amendments have been made to the Delhi Municipal Corporation Act, 1957.

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said the move would ensure better coordination between the Municipal Corporation and the Revenue Department, making administration more transparent, streamlined and convenient for citizens.

Through a notification issued by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, the Fourteenth Schedule of the Delhi Municipal Corporation Act, 1957 has been amended, and the revised details of MCD wards along with their respective zones have been officially notified.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said the amendment made by the Ministry of Home Affairs in the Fourteenth Schedule of the Delhi Municipal Corporation Act, 1957 would help establish stronger coordination between Delhi’s revenue administration and municipal administration.

The Revenue Department of the Delhi Government had, through a notification dated December 25, 2025, created 39 sub-divisions/tehsils and 13 administrative areas in the National Capital Territory of Delhi. These areas were aligned with the 12 zones of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) area and the Delhi Cantonment area.

Keeping administrative efficiency and public convenience in mind, the existing names of MCD zones have now been formally aligned with the new revenue district nomenclature.

The revised Fourteenth Schedule provides details of all 250 wards of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi along with their respective zones. Under the new arrangement, the 12 MCD zones have been listed as Outer North, North, North-West, Central North, Old Delhi, Central, West, South-West, South-East, South, East and North-East.

The administrative restructuring is expected to improve coordination among various departments involved in Delhi’s regional governance. Uniformity in the naming of revenue administration and municipal administration areas will help in the effective implementation of government schemes, better inter-departmental coordination and smoother delivery of public services.

The notification contains a detailed list of all 250 wards of the Delhi Municipal Corporation along with their corresponding zones. The complete copy of the notification has been attached with the official release.
