Kolkata, 02 July (H.S.) : The West Bengal government carried out a major reshuffle in the state police, transferring and reassigning 15 senior officers from the Indian Police Service (IPS) and the West Bengal Police Service (WBPS). The exercise includes promotions, routine transfers, and revised postings for several officers.

According to a notification issued by the state secretariat, Nabanna, IPS officer Anjan Chakraborty has been appointed as the Inspector General of Police (IGP), State Forensic Science Laboratory. He was previously serving as the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the State Anti-Corruption Branch.

IPS officer Sumanjit Roy has been posted as the Inspector General of Police, Intelligence Branch (Border), while Rashid Munir Khan has been promoted from the rank of DIG and appointed as the IGP (Headquarters).

In Kolkata Police, Pradeep Kumar Yadav, who had been serving as Deputy Commissioner of the Special Task Force (STF), has been transferred as Deputy Commissioner of the 4th Battalion. Amlan Kusum Ghosh, formerly Deputy Commissioner (North) of the Howrah Police Commissionerate, has been appointed as the new Deputy Commissioner of the STF.

The government has also promoted Sambhav Jain, who was serving as Additional Superintendent of Police in Krishnanagar Police District, Nadia, as the Deputy Commissioner (Traffic) of Kolkata Police. His earlier transfer order appointing him as Deputy Commissioner (North) of the Howrah Police Commissionerate has been cancelled.

Savita Gotial, the Sub-Divisional Police Officer of Ranaghat in Nadia district, has been promoted as Additional Special Superintendent of Police in the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the West Bengal Police.

Among the WBPS officers, Shaubhanik Mukherjee has been posted as Additional Superintendent of Police, Howrah (Rural), while Sandeep Sen, formerly Additional Superintendent of Police, Kharagpur, has been appointed as Additional Superintendent of Police (Headquarters), Jhargram.

Another WBPS officer, Shyamal Kumar Mandal, has been posted as Additional Superintendent of Police (Zonal) in the Sundarbans Police District of South 24 Parganas.

The latest reshuffle is part of the state government's ongoing administrative exercise aimed at strengthening police leadership and enhancing operational efficiency across key departments and field formations.
