Bhubaneswar, 18 July (H.S.): Odisha Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati on Saturday emphasised the importance of skill development and employment opportunities for hearing-impaired girls, urging efforts to connect them with the State's growing industrial sector.

Interacting with around 50 members of the SEVA Foundation, Keonjhar, including hearing-impaired girls and persons with physical disabilities, at Abhisek Hall in Lok Bhavan, the Governor was informed that the girls are being imparted training in tailoring and handicrafts.

Observing that several textile industries are set to come up in Odisha, Dr. Kambhampati advised the organisation to explore employment opportunities for the trained girls in these industries so that they can become financially independent and lead dignified lives.

The Governor also interacted with the participants about the support, including hearing aids and prosthetic limbs, being provided to them. Stressing the need for greater assistance, he suggested that the local administration be approached to facilitate the provision of hearing aids through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.

After the interaction, the group visited the gardens, Atal Van and the Deer Park on the Lok Bhavan premises. The Governor also assured them that Lok Bhavan would make all necessary arrangements for their visit to Puri.
