Pune, 18 July (HS): The universities should equip students to become providers in the future by skill development in AI, data science, robotics, quantum science, biotechnology, cyber security and green energy. These changes are changing global economy. The students should be able to make these opportunities in the future, said Maharashtra Governor Jishnu Dev Varma.

The Governor was

speaking during an event organised by DGII 100 Ex-Maharashtra, Pune Samvad and

Symbiosis International University in Pune. Higher and Technical Education

Minister Chandrakant Patil, Chief Minister Financial Advisor and CEO of MITRA

Pravin Pardesi, Principle Director of Symbiosis Society and Pro-Chancellor of

Sumbiosis International University Dr Vidya Yerwadekar, Additional Secretary of

Higher Education Anandrao Patil, Governor’s Secretary Dr Prashant Narnavre,

Managing Director and CEO of Tata Projects Vinayak Ratnakari Pai, Chairmen of

QS India Dr Ashvin Fernandis, Founder and CEO of DGII Hemant Sahar were present.

Governor Varma said

the university with the help of Incubation Centre should introduce skill-based

courses and establish Innovation Centre to attract students towards research,

while prosecuting degree courses.

Maharashtra has rich

culture and history and has potential to attract tourists from across the

world. Through digital mode facilities should be created to approach them and

boost economy of the state. He also referred to promotion of food culture, biodiversity,

agro-tourism through which many job- opportunities can be created.

Representatives of

various prominent educational institutions were present.
