
Bhubaneswar, 18 July (H.S.): The Odisha Government has issued a draft reservation list for the posts of chairpersons in 35 urban local bodies (ULBs) across the state, marking the initiation of the consultation process ahead of finalisation.
The draft notification, released by the Housing and Urban Development Department, outlines the proposed reservation categories and invites objections and suggestions from the public.
As per the notification, citizens can submit their feedback at the office of the Director of Municipal Administration within 15 days from the date of publication.
According to the draft proposal, 11 chairperson posts have been reserved for Scheduled Caste (SC) women, while seven posts are earmarked for the Scheduled Caste (SC) category. Additionally, seven posts have been reserved for Scheduled Tribe (ST) women and four posts for the Scheduled Tribe (ST) category.
The draft also provides for four chairperson posts reserved for women under other categories, while two posts have been kept unreserved.
Officials stated that the release of the draft list is part of a transparent consultative process, allowing stakeholders and the general public to review and provide inputs before the reservations are finalised.
The government has urged citizens to actively participate in the process by submitting their suggestions and objections within the stipulated timeframe.
