New Delhi, 16 July (H.S.): Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu on Thursday participated in the 48th Annual Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath at the Jagannath Temple in Hauz Khas. The event was attended by Member of Parliament Bansuri Swaraj, MLA Satish Upadhyay, religious leaders, and thousands of devotees.

The Lieutenant Governor congratulated the organisers for successfully carrying forward the sacred tradition of the Rath Yatra. In a post on X, he said the tradition is a timeless symbol of India's rich cultural and spiritual heritage, inspiring generations through enduring values such as devotion, humility, and selfless service.

He said the annual Rath Yatra, during which Lord Jagannath comes out to bless every devotee, beautifully reflects the inclusive spirit of Sanatan Dharma. It serves as a reminder that divine grace transcends all barriers. He added that the revered tradition of Chhera Pahara, in which even rulers humbly sweep the path before the Lord's chariot, embodies the highest ideals of service, humility, and equality before God.

On the auspicious occasion, the Lieutenant Governor prayed for the good health, peace, prosperity, and well-being of the people of Delhi.

Member of Parliament Bansuri Swaraj, in a post on X, described the divine Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath as a vibrant expression of India's Sanatan culture, faith, and spirituality. She said the grand festival conveys the values of humility, service, dedication, public participation, and social harmony. For centuries, the sacred tradition has inspired millions of devotees while promoting unity and harmony across humanity.

MLA Satish Upadhyay also shared his participation in the procession through a post on X. He said he was blessed to attend the 48th sacred Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath in Hauz Khas and prayed for the happiness, prosperity, good health, and welfare of all citizens. He also mentioned that young devotees Varun and Supriya presented a beautiful replica of the Rath Yatra as a symbol of their devotion and affection. Jagannath Temple President Ravi Pradhan and several local devotees were also present on the occasion.
