Kolkata, 16 July (H.S.) : West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has launched a 'Janata Darbar' initiative to provide a platform for citizens to directly present their grievances and seek speedy redressal. The public grievance hearing is being held at the Bharatiya Janata Party's state headquarters in Salt Lake, where a large number of people have been approaching the Chief Minister with complaints, personal hardships and issues related to the previous state government's tenure.

The government has prescribed a fixed procedure for those wishing to attend the Janata Darbar. Officials have clarified that the Chief Minister can be approached only by following this process.

Applicants must first visit the designated Janata Darbar counter at the BJP's Salt Lake office and submit details of their grievance along with all relevant supporting documents and evidence.

Officials posted at the counter will initially attempt to resolve the matter themselves. If the issue is settled at this stage, there will be no need for the applicant to meet the Chief Minister.

However, if the officials determine that the matter requires the Chief Minister's intervention, they will record the applicant's name, mobile number and details of the complaint. The applicant will then be issued a token. Party authorities may also verify or retain details of identity documents such as an Aadhaar card, voter identity card or any other valid proof of identity.

Once this process is completed, the applicant's immediate formalities come to an end. The BJP generally contacts shortlisted applicants by phone two to three days before the scheduled Janata Darbar and informs them of the date and time of their appearance. On the appointed day, applicants must report with their token and all original supporting documents.

Officials have stated that this is the only authorised method for attending the Chief Minister's Janata Darbar. People cannot secure entry by simply standing in a queue on the day of the event, and there is no online registration facility.

The party has said that people from across West Bengal are arriving to seek an audience at the Janata Darbar. It has advised citizens to follow only the official procedure and remain cautious against misinformation or fraudulent claims regarding appointments.
