Pune, 16 July (HS): Modern waste disposal and processing

units will be replaced by traditional dumping yards in Pimpri-Chinchwad,

Municipal Commissioner Dr Vijay Suryavanshi said. The new units will help in

effective disposal of garbage, eliminate stink and will be environment-friendly,

he added.

Dr Surayanshi was speaking during general body

meeting of Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation. Heap of garbage in the Moshi

dumping yard collapsed on a building recently causing the death of several people.

He discussed growing pressure on the garbage collection and disposal system and

need for effective alternative to it.

Instead of erecting dumping yards garbage processing

units will be constructed at many places, Dr Suryavanshi said.
