Malappuram, 16 July (H.S.):The Malappuram Cyber Crime Police have registered a case against a YouTuber for allegedly uploading inflammatory and abusive content targeting Kerala's IT and Industries Minister P K Kunhalikutty, following allegations that the videos promoted communal hatred and attempted to incite social unrest.

The case has been registered against the individual who runs the YouTube channel Brahma Cognition. According to the First Information Report (FIR), the accused uploaded a video featuring Kunhalikutty at a public function in Thiruvananthapuram. Police alleged that the video contained obscene and abusive language directed at the minister and included remarks capable of provoking communal sentiments.

Investigators further alleged that the video referred to religious concepts such as halal, haram and the traditional nilavilakku in a provocative manner with the intention of promoting enmity between different communities. The FIR states that the content was aimed at creating communal discord, disturbing public peace and intimidating members of the public.

The case follows a complaint filed by the Malappuram Assembly constituency committee of the Muslim Youth League (MYL), which accused the YouTuber of conducting a hate campaign against Kunhalikutty through social media. The complainants alleged that the video contained highly inflammatory content that had the potential to create hostility between communities and disrupt Kerala's communal harmony.

According to the complaint, the YouTuber, identified as “Swami”, deliberately uploaded the video to malign the minister and create resentment against him among the public. The complaint also stated that Kunhalikutty has consistently upheld Kerala's secular values and alleged that the content was intended to damage his public image while fuelling religious polarisation.

Based on the complaint and the material under examination, the Cyber Crime Police have registered a case and launched an investigation. Officials will examine the digital evidence and determine further legal action based on the findings of the probe.
