Nagpur, 15 July (HS): Maharashtra Government has approved Rs 100 crore for the
proposed sport complex of international level in Nagpur. Following the
administrative approval the School Education and Sports Department has issued a
Government Resolution to this effect.
The
proposal could materialised due to the consistent follow-up by Revenue Minister
Chandrashekhar Bawankule. The proposed sports complex will have hostels for 300
male and 300 female sportspersons, multipurpose hall for indoor events,
shooting range, synthetic athletic track. Hockey astro-turf ground, Synthetic
turf basketball court, archery range, kabaddi, khokho, volleyball courts, mini
golf facility, modern gymnasium, changing rooms and other facilities like solar
energy general plant.
The
high-level committee of secretaries approved the proposal on 20 May, 2026 and
the Cabinet approved it on 26th June, 2026. The funds will be
transferred to the Department of School Education and Sports.
The
tenders will be floated soon, in a joint consultation with experienced
contractors in sports infrastructure and the chief contractor..
The
facility will benefit the sports person from the Vidarbha region.
