Varanasi, 15 July (HS): Thirty women have been employed as
'Solar Didis' following a selection and recruitment drive organized by Arc
Surya Shakti Private Limited in Varanasi. This initiative aims to strengthen
the 'Solar Didi' campaign, which operates under the Government of India's
ambitious 'Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana' (Prime Minister's
Solar House: Free Electricity Scheme). The selected women received appointment
letters and were briefed on the solar energy-related training, technical guidance,
and work opportunities available to them.
Speaking on the occasion, Abhishek Singh 'Chanchal', CMD of
Arc Surya Shakti Private Limited, praised the 'Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar: Muft
Bijli Yojana' and the work being carried out by the Uttar Pradesh New and
Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA). He described the scheme as a
historic initiative towards making India self-reliant in the energy sector. Chanchal
remarked that women's empowerment is the greatest strength of any developed
nation.
He further added that the Foundation continuously motivates
families—even those unable to install solar plants immediately—to become aware
of solar energy, adopt energy conservation practices, and consider installing
solar plants in the future. Additionally, through Corporate Social
Responsibility (CSR) initiatives in the solar and renewable energy sectors, the
Arc Parivar Foundation is working to connect the country's industrial and
corporate sectors with this national campaign. The Foundation encourages
corporate entities to become active partners—through their CSR contributions—in
achieving the national goals of clean energy, environmental conservation, and a
'Carbon Neutral (Net Zero Carbon) India.'
He believes that only through the collective efforts of the
government, industry, social organizations, and citizens can India emerge as a
clean energy superpower and offer effective solutions to the challenges of
global climate change. He stated that the objective of the Arc Parivar
Foundation is not merely to facilitate the installation of solar power plants,
but also to foster a positive mindset towards clean energy in society, engage
every citizen in the campaign for energy self-reliance, and ensure public
participation in building a clean, green, pollution-free, and eco-friendly
India for future generations.
He mentioned that, as part of its commitment to social
service, the Arc Parivar Foundation is continuously working to raise public
awareness about solar energy. The Foundation specifically strives to reach
families who are unable to install solar plants at their homes due to a lack of
information or awareness, or because of financial constraints. The organization
provides such individuals with comprehensive information regarding the 'PM
Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana' (Free Electricity Scheme), government subsidies,
the availability of bank loans, and the application process, while also
offering necessary guidance and support through authorized channels. When
required, the Arc Parivar Foundation also provides financial assistance—within
its means—to eligible and genuinely needy families, enabling them to adopt
solar energy and benefit from the scheme.
He further added that adopting solar energy is not just a
means to reduce electricity bills; it is also a moral responsibility towards
environmental conservation, pollution control, and ensuring a secure future for
coming generations.
