Kolkata, 15 July (H.S.): Trinamool Congress National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee appeared before the Bidhannagar Court on Wednesday and submitted his voice sample in connection with the widely discussed DJ remark case.
Banerjee left his Kalighat residence at around 11 a.m. and reached the court ahead of the scheduled time. Tight security arrangements were put in place at the Bidhannagar court premises, with a heavy deployment of police personnel and central security forces.
Banerjee had been contesting the direction to provide his voice sample for several weeks. He had approached the Calcutta High Court, arguing that since he had already acknowledged making the controversial DJ-related remark, there was no need to record his voice sample.
However, the High Court rejected his plea and directed him to cooperate with the investigation, observing that unnecessary delay in the probe would not be tolerated.
Following the court's directions, Banerjee appeared before the Bidhannagar Court on Wednesday and provided his voice sample as part of the ongoing investigation. The case remains under investigation.
