Kolkata, 14 July (H.S.): The police have arrested three persons, including the alleged mastermind, in connection with the murder of a man on the service road of the Belgharia Expressway in North Dum Dum.

The accused, identified as Suman Roy, along with two of his associates, was arrested during a special operation conducted by the officers of Dumdum Police Station on Monday night.

According to the police, the incident took place late on Sunday night at Khalisakota in North Dumdum, where Raja Dutta was allegedly shot dead on the service road of the Belgharia Expressway. Two others sustained serious bullet injuries in the attack, triggering tension in the area.

Following the incident, the police launched an investigation and, acting on various leads, conducted raids that led to the arrest of the alleged mastermind and his two associates.

The police said efforts are underway to trace and arrest the remaining accused. The investigation into the motive behind the murder and the larger conspiracy is continuing.
