Gurdaspur, 11 July (H.S.): A suspected drone was recovered from sugarcane fields near Jagochak Tanda village under Behrampur police station in Gurdaspur district.

According to police, local residents informed the authorities after spotting the drone in the fields. A police team reached the spot and took the drone into custody. Dinanagar DSP Rajinder Minhas said the drone has been seized and an investigation has been started.

After receiving information about the incident, senior police officials also reached the spot. A thorough search operation was carried out in the surrounding area to check whether the drone had dropped any suspicious object.

As the area is located near the border, security agencies are treating the matter seriously. Police are conducting a technical examination of the drone and are also checking CCTV footage from nearby areas to trace its movement.

A case has been registered against unknown persons at Behrampur police station, and further investigation is underway. Police have appealed to the public not to believe rumours and to immediately inform the authorities about any suspicious activity. The exact purpose of the drone will be known only after the investigation is completed.
