New Delhi, 08 June (H.S.):
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday highlighted the importance of maintaining harmony with nature, protecting the environment and ensuring the welfare of all living beings, describing these principles as the foundation of India's cultural ethos. He said India is advancing steadily on the path of progress and prosperity while remaining guided by this broader vision.
In a post on social media platform X, the Prime Minister stated that achieving balance with nature and working for the well-being of all forms of life have always been central to Indian culture. To underscore this philosophy, he shared a Sanskrit verse:
यावच्चतस्रः प्रदिशश्चक्षुर्यावत् समश्नुते।
तावत् समैत्विन्द्रियं मयि तद्धस्तिवर्चसम्॥
Explaining the essence of the verse, PM Modi said it conveys the idea of a prosperity and strength that is as vast as the four directions and as vigilant and far-sighted as human vision. The message encourages humanity to move forward in complete harmony with nature, safeguard the environment and ensure the welfare of all living beings.
The Prime Minister emphasized that India's development journey is not confined solely to economic growth. Rather, he said, it is intrinsically linked to environmental conservation, ecological balance and the long-term well-being of all forms of life.
According to Modi, sustainable progress can only be achieved when development and environmental responsibility advance together. He noted that India's cultural traditions have long advocated a respectful relationship with nature, and this philosophy continues to guide the country's approach to growth and nation-building.
The Prime Minister reiterated that the pursuit of prosperity must remain aligned with the principles of sustainability, environmental stewardship and inclusive welfare, ensuring that future generations inherit a healthier and more balanced world.
