New Delhi, 08 June (H.S.):

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Singh on Monday stated that the party is no longer a part of the INDIA alliance and, therefore, will not participate in the alliance's meeting scheduled for later in the day.

Speaking on the upcoming gathering of opposition parties, Singh said AAP had already made its position clear regarding the coalition and that there was no question of the party attending the meeting.

As far as our party is concerned, we have already clarified that AAP is not a part of the INDIA alliance. Therefore, the question of participating in the meeting does not arise, he said in a statement.

During his remarks, Singh also criticised the Indian National Congress over recent political developments in Tamil Nadu. He alleged that relations between Congress and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) had become strained after Congress extended support to Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), the party founded by actor-turned-politician Vijay, without first taking its alliance partner DMK into confidence.

The remarks come amid shifting political equations in Tamil Nadu and growing discussions about opposition unity ahead of future electoral contests.

Meanwhile, a meeting of the INDIA Alliance is scheduled to be held on Monday at the Constitution Club in New Delhi. Leaders from 23 opposition parties are expected to attend the gathering, where discussions will focus on formulating a joint political strategy and strengthening coordination among alliance partners.

AAP's decision to stay away from the meeting highlights the continuing differences within sections of the opposition bloc, even as alliance leaders seek to present a united front on key national and political issues.
