Lucknow, 05 June (HS): On June 5, World Environment Day,

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath celebrated his 54th

birthday by planting saplings at his official residence at 5 Kalidas Marg in

Lucknow as part of the Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam program. Speaking to the

public, the Chief Minister emphasized the state's notable growth in forest

cover and the massive tree planting campaigns that Prime Minister Narendra Modi

has spearheaded over the previous nine years. I congratulate everyone on

World Environment Day, he said. Inspired by Prime Minister Modi, the

state administration has fulfilled its obligations to the environment and

ecology during the previous nine years by taking many significant actions. The

amount of forest cover in the state has grown. To safeguard the environment and

address challenges like global warming, large-scale tree plantations are being

undertaken.

CM Yogi also discussed other environmental initiatives in

Uttar Pradesh, including as campaigns against single-use plastic, free soil

deliveries for village ponds, and water conservation measures. He indicated

that several actions had been taken. Plastic-free initiative to discourage

single-use plastic in our villages and cities. Providing soil free of cost for

ponds in every village and city from April to June. These and several more

projects have been successfully implemented throughout the state. Numerous

steps have been taken for water conservation. On this occasion, he addressed

issue of human-driven climate change and encouraged participation in

tree-planting campaign. Today is World Environment Day, and I express my

deepest wishes to all of you. The entire globe is now dealing with major

environmental issues. We are experiencing the negative consequences of this

environmental shift. This is a man-made tragedy, and a solution must be

discovered by people. While completing their commitments to the Earth, we

launched a campaign for every citizen called 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam', he stated.

The Chief Minister urged citizens and students to plant

trees, as the state seeks to plant five crore saplings from Forest Department

stocks. He said, It is our good fortune that UP, which has undertaken a

massive plantation drive of over 242 crore saplings in the last 9 years, is

carrying on this legacy today on World Environment Day with the launch of the

'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' program. I urge all school going kids to help move

this movement forward.

On the occasion of 'Van Mahotsav', the Uttar Pradesh government

encourages all state residents to plant at least one tree in their mother's honour

and join in this huge endeavour. To assist this, the Forest Department has

prepared approximately 50 crore saplings; today, we are going forward with the

goal of planting 5 crore trees. On the same day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi

wished Yogi Adityanath a happy birthday and prayed for a long and healthy life.

In his 'X' tweet, PM Modi lauded the Chief Minister's leadership, writing,

Best wishes to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath Ji, on his

birthday. His contributions to the state's prosperity are remarkable. He

has always prioritized people's well-being and overall progress. I'm praying

for him long and healthy life.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath penned a post

on X, which reads as follows: “If the environment is preserved, nature will be

preserved; if nature is preserved, the living world will also be preserved. It

becomes the duty of every citizen to faithfully fulfill their responsibilities

towards the motherland. On the occasion of World Environment Day today, in

Lucknow, we had the good fortune to participate in tree plantation under the

'One Tree in the Name of Mother' Tree Plantation Mega Campaign-2026. Let us all

resolve to plant as many trees as possible for the conservation and nurturing

of nature.” On the occasion of World Environment Day, he also attended seminar

held in Lucknow on the theme 'Solutions to the Challenges of Climate Change in

Uttar Pradesh'.
