Bhubaneswar, 05 June (H.S.): BJP candidate Debashish Samantaray on Friday filed his nomination papers for the upcoming Rajya Sabha by-election from Odisha.
Samantaray submitted three sets of nomination papers before the designated election authorities. Several senior BJP leaders were present during the filing of the nomination to extend their support and solidarity.
Among those present were BJP Odisha President Manmohan Samal, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, Ministers Suresh Pujari, Dr. Mukesh Mahaling and Krushna Chandra Patra, along with MLA Akash Dasnayak and other party leaders.
Prior to filing his nomination, Samantaray met senior BJP leaders at the party’s state headquarters in Bhubaneswar.
Speaking on the occasion, BJP State President Manmohan Samal expressed confidence in the party’s candidate and said that Samantaray’s induction into the BJP has strengthened the party's base in the state. He also hinted that more leaders may join the party in the coming days.
Reacting after being nominated as the BJP candidate, Debashish Samantaray thanked the party leadership for reposing faith in him.
“The BJP has shown confidence in me. I will work wholeheartedly and do whatever is necessary for the development and progress of Odisha,” Samantaray said.
