Kolkata, 05 June (H.S.) : Political discussions within the Trinamool Congress (TMC) have intensified once again following what is being described as an “indicative social media post” by Lok Sabha MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, reviving speculation about internal differences and possible factional tensions within the party.
According to sources, recent developments have already triggered conversations about growing dissatisfaction within the party’s parliamentary and legislative ranks. In this backdrop, Dastidar’s post has been interpreted in political circles as an indirect expression of disagreement with the party leadership.
In her recent statement, she reportedly referred to the people’s mandate against the policies of the previous government, a remark that has been viewed by some observers as an indirect comment on the leadership of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. She further stated that electoral decisions reflect public sentiment against governance failures and policy issues.
Earlier, during a protest event at the Dharmatala Y-Channel, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had, without naming anyone, reportedly criticised internal dissent within the party, suggesting that some leaders were expressing public dissatisfaction after being denied tickets.
Following this, Dastidar expressed her displeasure on social media, highlighting her long association with the party and reiterating her commitment to it, while also hinting at a lack of expected recognition despite years of service.
The situation was further complicated after recent organisational changes in the TMC parliamentary wing in the Lok Sabha, where Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar was removed from the post of Chief Whip and replaced by MP Kalyan Banerjee, triggering further speculation about internal discontent.
Political observers also point to emerging differences among party leaders in legislative and administrative engagements, raising questions about internal cohesion within the organisation.
Reports of disagreements during recent Assembly-level proceedings, including over leadership roles in the House, have further fuelled speculation of widening internal rifts. Similar discussions are now being extended to the party’s parliamentary strategy in the Lok Sabha.
However, senior TMC leaders have not issued any formal response addressing these claims. Meanwhile, political circles suggest that the party’s parliamentary strategy in the coming days may witness significant adjustments, in which Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar’s role could become crucial.
