Bhubaneswar, 05 June (H.S.): The Odisha Government has appointed Sudhansu Sekhar Barpanda as a Member of the Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commission (OERC), according to a notification issued by the State Energy Department.

The appointment has been made under the provisions of Sub-section (5) of Section 82 of the Electricity Act, 2003. Barpanda will assume office from the date he formally takes charge of the position.

An official notification issued by the Energy Department stated that the State Government has exercised its powers under the Electricity Act, 2003, to appoint Sudhansu Sekhar Barpanda as a Member of the Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commission.

“In exercise of the powers conferred under Sub-section (5) of Section 82 of the Electricity Act, 2003, the State Government is pleased to appoint Shri Sudhansu Sekhar Barpanda as Member, Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commission (OERC), with effect from the date he assumes office,” the notification said.

The Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commission is the statutory body responsible for regulating the state's power sector, including tariff determination, licensing, and ensuring transparency and efficiency in electricity distribution and supply.
