Bhubaneswar, 05 June (H.S.): Odisha Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati, along with First Lady Jayashree Kambhampati, planted a sapling at Atal Van on the premises of Lok Bhavan on Friday to mark World Environment Day.

Officers and staff of Lok Bhavan also participated in the plantation drive, reaffirming their commitment to environmental conservation.

Speaking on the occasion, the Governor emphasized that protecting the environment is a collective responsibility and urged citizens to actively contribute by planting trees.

He stated that World Environment Day serves as a reminder for everyone to take meaningful action towards environmental protection. Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative, he appealed to the people of Odisha to plant at least one sapling each.

Highlighting the importance of afforestation, Dr. Kambhampati said trees play a vital role in purifying the air, conserving biodiversity, and combating climate change. He added that even small individual efforts can collectively create a significant environmental impact.

Calling upon the younger generation to take the lead in environmental protection, the Governor urged them to contribute towards building a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable future.
