Kolkata, 05 June (H.S.) : BJP leader Dilip Ghosh on Friday launched a sharp attack on the Trinamool Congress (TMC) following the arrest of party leader Swarup Biswas in connection with allegations including molestation and other charges.
Reacting to the development, Ghosh said that people are now beginning to understand the extent of alleged wrongdoing. “These people have misused power for years. For a long time, people remained silent out of fear. Now complaints are coming forward. There is law in the country and no one involved in wrongdoing will be spared,” he said.
The remarks came after Swarup Biswas, brother of senior TMC leader and former minister Arup Biswas, was arrested by police on Thursday evening in cases related to alleged molestation (outraging the modesty of a woman) and provisions under the Arms Act.
The arrest has triggered reactions from several quarters, including individuals associated with the Bengali film industry, with some reportedly expressing relief and speaking publicly about the development.
The case continues to draw political attention, with opposition leaders accusing the ruling party of abuse of power, while investigations remain underway.
