
Sri Anandpur Sahib,, 05 June (H.S.) Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu, during his visit to Punjab on Friday, paid obeisance at Sri Anandpur Sahib, the birthplace of the Khalsa Panth, and the historic town of Kiratpur Sahib. Sandhu bowed his head at Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib, Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib and Gurdwara Guru Ke Mahal Bhora Sahib. Later, he also visited Gurdwara Patalpuri Sahib at Kiratpur Sahib and other historic Sikh shrines.
At the information office of Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee member Bhai Amarjit Singh Chawla and other leaders honoured Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu.
Sandhu said he considered himself very fortunate to have received the opportunity to visit Sri Anandpur Sahib, the birthplace of the Khalsa Panth, and the sacred places associated with the ninth Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji, known as Hind Di Chadar. He expressed deep gratitude to Akal Purakh for this blessing.
He said Sri Anandpur Sahib and Delhi share a deep historical, cultural and religious connection, which needs to be further strengthened. Sandhu said he would hold discussions with the Delhi Government and try to prepare a special plan through which the people of Delhi could be connected more closely with the rich heritage of the Sikh Panth.
Sandhu added that such initiatives would promote religious tourism and also strengthen the economy of the Sri Anandpur Sahib region.
On this occasion, the Lieutenant Governor presented a book published by Guru Nanak Dev University on the life and contribution of Teja Singh Samundri to Bhai Amarjit Singh Chawla.
Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib Additional Manager Advocate Hardev Singh Happy, Information Officer Harpreet Singh, former Municipal Council president Jathedar Ram Singh, Akali leader Hardev Singh Debi and several administrative were also present.
