NEW DELHI, June 4 (H.S.): Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday visited the victims injured in the Malviya Nagar fire tragedy at Max Hospital in Saket. The Delhi Government has announced an ex gratia payment of Rs 10 lakh for the families of each deceased victim and financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh each for those who sustained serious injuries. The information was shared through the social media account of the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO Delhi).

During her visit to Max Hospital, the Chief Minister interacted with the injured victims and their family members. She reviewed the ongoing treatment with the attending doctors and directed officials to extend all necessary assistance. Under the relief package announced by the government, the next of kin of each deceased victim will receive Rs 10 lakh in compensation, while seriously injured individuals will be provided Rs 5 lakh each as financial aid. Arrangements are also being made to transport the mortal remains of the deceased to their native places.

The Chief Minister stated that, in coordination with hospital authorities, arrangements would be made to cover the medical expenses of the injured, ensuring that every patient receives the best possible treatment and care. She affirmed that the Delhi Government stands firmly with every affected family and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured and strength for the bereaved families during this difficult time.

Notably, 21 people lost their lives in the fire incident. A magisterial inquiry has been ordered to investigate the tragedy, and an FIR has been registered against the restaurant owner.

The government has also announced strict action across the city against illegal properties, unauthorised guest houses, and establishments operating in violation of fire safety regulations and building bylaws. Such premises will be sealed, and legal proceedings will be initiated in accordance with the law. The authorities have stated that those responsible for the tragedy will be held accountable.
