Shivsagar (Assam), 30 June (HS): The Railways carried out a large-scale eviction drive in the Chafrai area of Sonari on Tuesday, removing several illegal structures built on encroached railway land.

During the operation, bulldozers were used to demolish commercial establishments and residential houses that had allegedly been constructed illegally after encroaching on railway property.

Officials said the eviction was undertaken to clear encroachments from railway land and ensure its lawful use. Security personnel were deployed at the site to maintain law and order during the demolition drive.
