Nagpur, 30 June
(HS): With June 30 being the last date for installation of High Security
Registration Plate (HSRP), those who have vehicle owners may face fine of Rs
1,000 from July 1. The State Government had made HSRP mandatory on vehicles and
extended the last date on six occasions. The vehicles registered before April
1, 2019 installing HSRP is mandatory.
However, still
many vehicles are being run without the HSRP. The delay was caused due to lack
of agencies for the installation or non-availability of number plates.
In Nagpur city
alone (MH-31) out of about 4.37 lakh vehicles registered with RTO, only 2.36
vehicles have HSRP installed the new plates. In Nagpur East (MH-49) out of 4.35
lakh vehicles only 2.59 lakh vehicles have installed HSRP. Thus about more than
45 percent vehicles are being run without the new number plates.
The RTO has
decided to initiate a special drive from July 1 to book the vehicle owners and
impose fine. RTO has appealed to book HSRP number plate immediately to avoid
the penalty.
