Sribhumi (Assam), 30 June (HS): The district administration and police on Tuesday launched a bulldozer-driven eviction drive against encroachers in Assam's Sribhumi district, demolishing illegal structures built on government land in the Brajendra Road area.
According to officials, several people had allegedly occupied government land and carried out unauthorized construction. Some of the encroachments had also extended over drains, obstructing the drainage system and violating civic regulations.
The eviction operation was carried out by the municipal authorities with police support to clear the encroached land and restore public infrastructure.
Officials said the drive was conducted following strict instructions from Guardian Minister Kaushik Rai, who directed the administration to take firm action against illegal encroachments in the district.---------
