New Delhi, 03 June (H.S.): The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) is in contact with the embassies of foreign nationals who were among the victims of the devastating fire in Delhi’s Malviya Nagar area. A majority of those killed in the tragedy are reportedly foreign citizens.

Expressing deep sorrow over the incident, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar said that the government is coordinating with the concerned diplomatic missions and providing all necessary assistance.

In a message posted on X, Jaishankar said, “My deepest condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the tragic fire incident in Malviya Nagar, New Delhi. The victims include foreign nationals. I pray for the speedy recovery of those injured. The Ministry of External Affairs is in touch with the concerned embassies and is extending all necessary assistance.”

It is noteworthy that 21 deaths have so far been confirmed in the fire that broke out at the Flourish Stay B&B Restaurant in Hauz Rani, located in the Malviya Nagar area of South Delhi.

According to unconfirmed reports, at least 18 of the deceased were foreign nationals. Most of the foreign victims are believed to be citizens of African countries. Authorities are continuing rescue, identification, and verification procedures while coordinating with diplomatic missions regarding the affected foreign nationals.
