Dhemaji (Assam), 29 June (HS): Assam Water Resources Minister Sushanta Borgohain and Disaster Management Minister Keshab Mahanta on Monday inspected the damaged railway bridge at Simen Chapori in Jonai, where a portion of the structure collapsed after the Simen River swelled due to heavy floods.

The two ministers reached Dhemaji following the Chief Minister's directive to assess the flood situation and oversee relief measures in the district, which has been severely affected by incessant rainfall and rising river levels.

During their visit, the ministers also toured several flood relief camps, interacted with displaced families and reviewed the arrangements being made for those affected by the floods.

Assuring timely assistance, the ministers said compensation would be provided to flood-affected people within a month. They also stated that the state government is taking all necessary steps to tackle the ongoing flood crisis and ensure relief reaches every affected household.-------------
