

Guwahati, 28 June (HS): Police have busted a liquor theft racket in Guwahati by arresting three accused and recovering a large quantity of stolen premium liquor, suspected heroin, cannabis and cash during a raid conducted in connection with Gorchuk Police Station Case No. 147/2026 registered under Sections 305(a) and 318(4) of the BNS.
The arrested accused have been identified as Rita Boro of Maldapara under Rangia Police Station, Habela Daimari (46) of Santipur under Gorchuk Police Station and Champak Medhi (42) of Belsor under Belsor Police Station. The trio was apprehended from their rented house at Nowagaon.
During the operation, police recovered stolen premium liquor allegedly taken from a bonded warehouse at Lokhra, including three bottles each of Blue Label, Royal Salute and Black Label, five bottles of Double Black, one bottle of Chivas Regal, 39 quarter bottles of Black Dog and 20 quarter bottles of Signature whisky. Cash amounting to ₹1,79,840 was also seized from their possession.
Further search of the premises led to the recovery of two soap cases containing 25 grams of suspected heroin, 119 plastic vials containing 143 grams of suspected heroin, and 5.20 kilograms of Marijuana. Police have seized all the recovered items and are investigating possible links between the liquor theft racket and narcotics trafficking. Further investigation is underway.---------------
