New Delhi, 26 June (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday paid tribute to eminent litterateur Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay and pioneer of social justice Rajarshi Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj on their birth anniversaries. He remembered Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay as one of India's greatest literary figures whose writings ignited the spirit of patriotism and cultural pride among generations of Indians.

In a post on X, the Prime Minister paid homage to Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay on his birth anniversary, saying that as a great literary icon, his works have inspired generations of Indians with a deep sense of patriotism and cultural pride. He said that Bankim Chandra's rich literary legacy continues to enlighten minds and strengthen the nation's collective resolve towards nation-building.

Highlighting the significance of the year, Prime Minister Modi noted that the country is celebrating the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram. He said that through Vande Mataram, Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay gave the Indian freedom movement and the nation one of its most enduring sources of inspiration.

In another post, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to Rajarshi Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj on his birth anniversary. The Prime Minister said that Shahu Maharaj was a steadfast champion of social justice and equality, who dedicated his life to the upliftment of the underprivileged, the oppressed and the backward sections of society. He added that Shahu Maharaj's noble work and ideals would continue to guide the nation for generations to come.
