Guwahati, 23 June (HS): Advocate Jiaur Kamar on Tuesday made a series of allegations regarding the financial dealings of singer Zubeen Garg and his former manager Siddhartha Sharma during proceedings related to the ongoing case linked to the artiste.
Addressing the media after the hearing, Kamar claimed that only around ₹9 lakh remains in Zubeen Garg’s bank account, while Siddhartha Sharma allegedly possesses assets worth crores of rupees. He further alleged that funds paid by various Bihu committees for the singer’s performances were misappropriated by the former manager, raising serious questions over the handling of financial transactions.
The advocate stated that information suggesting the alleged embezzlement of money belonging to Zubeen Garg has emerged during the course of the case. However, the allegations are yet to be adjudicated by the court.
Meanwhile, the hearing on the bail plea of Siddhartha Sharma, one of the accused in the case, has been completed. The court has reserved its order, with the verdict likely to be pronounced on June 26 or on a subsequent date.
It may be mentioned that in a separate development, the bail plea hearing of Sandeepan Garg was taken up before the bench of Justice Mitali Thakuria at the Gauhati High Court. The court heard arguments presented by the counsel for Sandeepan Garg, while the matter has been listed again for further hearing on July 15.
