New Delhi, 22 June (H.S.): Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy met Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi on Monday and thanked him for facilitating the transfer of Defence Ministry land to the state government for the Gandhi Sarovar project.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, Reddy described the development of Adilabad Airport as one of the Telangana government's highest-priority infrastructure projects. He said the state government would extend full cooperation in land acquisition, utility relocation, and all other activities required for the airport's expansion.

The Chief Minister also assured the Defence Minister that the Telangana government remains fully committed to extending every possible support and cooperation in matters concerning national unity and defence.

Reddy requested the Centre's assistance for the comprehensive expansion of the Indian Air Force airbase at Adilabad. He said that, for the convenience of passengers, the project should include an Indian Air Force terminal, a Civil Aviation Department terminal building, as well as large-scale cargo, Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO), and aircraft hangar facilities.

He further said that, in light of recent developments in the Middle East and Asia, Adilabad Airport is ideally suited for establishing hangar facilities for world-class airlines and should be developed accordingly.

The Chief Minister also urged the Defence Minister to grant immediate approval for a key project related to the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Defence Research and Development Laboratory (DRDL) at the site identified near Devarakadra in Telangana's Mahabubnagar district.
