New Delhi, 22 June (H.S.): External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar, on Monday, arrived in Mongolia as part of the first leg of his four-day overseas visit and held talks with his Mongolian counterpart, Foreign Minister Battsetseg Batmunkh, in the capital, Ulaanbaatar. The two leaders discussed bilateral relations and cooperation across a wide range of areas, including development projects, capacity building, culture, education, security, and other key sectors.

Taking to social media platform X, Jaishankar said he was pleased to meet Foreign Minister Battsetseg Batmunkh. He noted that the discussions reflected the warmth, strength, and immense potential of the India-Mongolia Strategic Partnership.

The two ministers reviewed progress in cooperation on development projects, capacity building, culture, education, security, and engagement at multilateral forums. They also explored opportunities to deepen collaboration in mining, clean energy, and agricultural processing.

Jaishankar said that India regards Mongolia as its third neighbour and a spiritual partner, and reaffirmed New Delhi's commitment to further strengthening the close and cordial ties between the two countries.

Notably, Dr. Jaishankar will remain in Mongolia on June 22 and 23, during which he is scheduled to meet the Mongolian leadership.

Following the Mongolia visit, the External Affairs Minister will travel to South Korea on June 24 and 25. During his visit, he will hold talks with South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Hyun and deliver the keynote address at the Jeju Forum for Peace and Prosperity in Jeju on June 25.
