Barpeta (Assam), 15 June (HS): A youth was apprehended with a pistol at Gunialguri under Kalgachia on Sunday after local residents allegedly caught him while he was creating fear in the area.

The accused, identified as Nazmul Haque of Bapuji Nagar, was reportedly detained by alert villagers and later handed over to Kalgachia Police along with the firearm.

According to local sources, Nazmul Haque had allegedly been terrorising residents for a long time by brandishing the pistol and issuing threats. His activities had created panic among people in the locality.

Residents further alleged that two other youths were also involved in creating unrest and intimidation in Gunialguri along with Nazmul Haque. Police have launched an investigation into the matter and are looking into all aspects of the case.-----------
