Golaghat, 14 June (HS): A wave of shock has gripped the Makrong Tea Estate area in Assam's Golaghat district after the body of a teenage student was recovered from a dumping site within the estate on Sunday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Achintya Rajkhowa, a resident of Lonpuriya village under Makrong Panchayat. He was a Higher Secondary first-year (Class XI) student of Furkating Senior Secondary School.

According to preliminary reports, the teenager had returned home from his hostel three days ago and had been missing since Saturday. Local residents spotted his body lying in a garbage disposal area of the tea estate and immediately alerted the police.

Police personnel reached the spot and recovered the body for necessary legal procedures. The incident has triggered concern and speculation across the locality.

Officials said an investigation has been initiated to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the death. The exact cause of death will be known only after the post-mortem examination report is received, police added.----------
