
Faridkot, 13 June (H.S.): Faridkot police have arrested a man and recovered an illegal country-made pistol along with three live cartridges from his possession. The accused has been identified as Saroop Singh resident of Tarn Taran. A case under the Arms Act has been registered against him at City Faridkot police station, and further investigation is underway.
According to police officials, a special drive has been launched under the directions of SSP Gurbans Singh Bains to crack down on anti-social elements in the district. As part of this campaign, a CIA Staff team led by ASI Parminder Singh was conducting routine patrolling in the area.
During the patrol, when the police team reached near Tower Works at the Grain Market area, they noticed the accused standing in suspicious circumstances. Acting on suspicion, the police detained and searched him. During the search, the police recovered a .32 bore country-made pistol and three live cartridges from his possession.
Investigating officer ASI Parminder Singh said that the accused would be produced before the court to seek police remand. He added that during interrogation, the police would investigate the backward and forward linkages related to the recovered weapon. The criminal background of the accused is also being verified as part of the ongoing investigation.
