Punjab, 13 June (H.S.): Abohar police have registered a case against 29 youths allegedly involved in a series of theft incidents in the city. Out of them, seven accused have been arrested by the Police Station No. 1 team, while raids are being conducted to apprehend the remaining suspects. The arrested accused will be produced before the court and taken on police remand for further interrogation.

Police officials believe the accused may be linked to several previous theft and robbery cases reported in the city, and further questioning could help solve multiple pending cases.

The action was carried out under the security directives of Fazilka SSP Gagan Ajit Singh. A police team led by SHO Maninder Singh of Police Station No. 1 was conducting patrol duty in the Seed Farm area on saturday when they received information from an informer about a gang of youths allegedly involved in repeated thefts across the city.

Following the tip-off, the police registered a case under Sections 303(2), 331(4), 305, and 112 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Among those booked are Ashwani Kumar, Jasminder Pal Singh, Jagtar Singh, Kuldeep Singh, Sandeep Kumar, Rinku, Suresh Kumar, Gurcharan Singh, Barkat Singh, Manpreet Singh alias Manna, Karan Bharti, Manpreet Singh, Rajwinder Singh and Bittu, along with several others.

Police said further investigation is underway and efforts are being made to trace the remaining accused and recover stolen property connected to the cases.
