Delhi, 12 June (H.S.):
Tibetan spiritual leader Tenzin Gyatso was discharged from Indraprastha Apollo Hospital in New Delhi on Friday after recovering from a left knee replacement surgery performed earlier this week.
According to a medical update shared on his official social media account, the 14th Dalai Lama underwent the operation on June 8. Doctors confirmed that the procedure was completed successfully and that his condition remained stable throughout his hospital stay.
Dr Rajesh Malhotra, Senior Consultant at Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals, said the spiritual leader tolerated the surgery well and showed steady recovery in the days that followed. He added that the Dalai Lama was discharged on Friday morning after medical teams were satisfied with his progress.
Hospital sources indicated that the surgery was carried out with careful monitoring given his age, and that his post-operative recovery remained smooth and without complications.
With his discharge, doctors have advised continued rest and routine follow-up care to ensure full rehabilitation in the coming weeks.
