In a heartfelt message shared on social media, Patnaik described Rana as an “ace shooter, Asian Games gold medallist, and mentor” who brought immense pride to the nation through his remarkable sporting achievements. He noted that Rana not only excelled in his discipline but also played a crucial role in inspiring and mentoring a new generation of sportspersons.

Calling his demise a “profound loss to the world of sports,” Patnaik extended his condolences to the bereaved family, friends, and admirers of the legendary shooter. He concluded his message with a prayer for the departed soul, saying, “Om Shanti.”
