Bhubaneswar, 12 June (H.S.): Odisha Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati on Friday emphasized that integrity and strong character are as important as professional competence for aspiring Chartered Accountants, stating that knowledge ensures capability while ethics build lasting credibility.
Speaking at the inaugural session of the National Conference of CA Students held at KIIT Auditorium in Bhubaneswar, the Governor said success without integrity is short-lived, while achievements grounded in honesty and ethical conduct stand the test of time. He urged students to cultivate discipline, humility, compassion, and a commitment to service alongside their academic and professional pursuits.
Describing the gathering as a confluence of emerging talent, Dr. Kambhampati said the participating students represent the next generation of financial leaders, entrepreneurs, policy advisors, and nation-builders who will contribute significantly to India’s vision of becoming a developed nation.
He lauded the Bhubaneswar Branch of the Eastern India Regional Council (EIRC) and the Board of Studies (Operations) of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) for promoting professional excellence, leadership development, and continuous learning among students.
Highlighting the evolving role of the profession, the Governor said Chartered Accountants are not only financial record-keepers but also custodians of transparency, accountability, and corporate governance. He noted that with the rapid advancement of technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Analytics, Blockchain, and FinTech, the role of CAs is expanding into areas of strategic advisory, risk management, and sustainability consulting.
He further stated that Chartered Accountants will play a key role in achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat @ 2047 by supporting startups, strengthening MSMEs, promoting transparent governance, and facilitating investment growth.
Referring to Odisha’s development trajectory, Dr. Kambhampati highlighted emerging opportunities in sectors such as industry, infrastructure, IT, renewable energy, ports, logistics, and tourism, urging students to explore the state’s growing professional ecosystem.
The Governor also encouraged students to adopt sustainable practices in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “economic self-reliance,” including the use of electric vehicles and rooftop solar systems. He noted that the ethanol blending initiative would create new opportunities for farmers and strengthen the rural economy.
Senior representatives of ICAI, including officials from the Eastern India Regional Council and Bhubaneswar branch, also addressed the session. A souvenir was released on the occasion.
