
Pune, 11 June (HS): The State Excise Department seized liquor worth Rs 1,20,96,000
and the vehicle worth Rs 15 lakh which was being illegally brought in from Goa
and had fake labels. The vehicle was checked in Sutarwadi Pashan in Haveli
Tehsil in Pune district on Pune-Mumbai highway.
The
operation was carried out under the guidance of State Excise Commissioner Dr
Rajesh Deshmukh, Joint Commissioner Prasad Surve and Deputy Commissioner Sagar
Dhomkar.
The
vehicle carried 1,200 boxes of liquor manufactured in Goa, but had labels of
manufactured and for sale in Madhya Pradesh. The 180 ml bottles with labels of
Royal Select Deluxe Whisky were seized. The bottles were being carried without
any permit and fake tax invoice.
The
driver of the vehicle was arrested and offence under various sections was
registered. The samples have been sent to laboratory testing.
