New Delhi, 11 June (H.S.):
The foundation stone of a Krishi Vigyan Kendra (Agricultural Science Centre) will be laid in Vidisha, Madhya Pradesh, on June 14. The centre is planned to be developed as a model institution for the agricultural sector and is expected to provide farmers with scientific farming guidance, information on government schemes, and access to various agricultural benefits.
In a video message issued on Thursday, Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that June 14 would be a historic day for agriculture and farmers in the Vidisha parliamentary constituency. He announced that the foundation stone of the Krishi Vigyan Kendra would be laid at Berkhedi Jattu in Vidisha at 10 a.m. on June 14.
Chouhan stated that the centre would be developed as a model Krishi Vigyan Kendra for the country and would serve as a hub for agricultural innovation, training, and farmer support.
He further informed that work would formally begin on implementing the scientific agricultural roadmap prepared for the districts of Vidisha, Raisen, Sehore, and Dewas. The initiative aims to enhance agricultural productivity and sustainability through scientific methods and modern technologies.
Chouhan said that farmers would also receive important guidance under the Save the Fields Campaign. The programme will include awareness sessions on identifying counterfeit fertilizers and protecting crops from their harmful effects. Demonstrations of modern agricultural machinery, advanced sowing techniques, contemporary farming practices, and innovative cultivation methods will also be organized.
In addition, various exhibition stalls and live demonstrations will provide farmers with opportunities to learn about the latest developments in agriculture and farm mechanisation.
The Union Minister urged farmers to participate in the programme and seek expert advice to make their farming practices more modern, efficient, and aligned with changing agricultural needs. He emphasized that the centre would play a significant role in promoting scientific agriculture and improving farmers' livelihoods across the region.
